Ajay and Nisha Mathulla
Ajay Mathulla leads guest arrivals, the plantation walks and the daily rhythm of the estate. Nisha Mathulla, who is IHM-trained, leads the kitchen alongside a head chef who has worked here for over twenty years, and runs the cooking classes.
Between them they set the shape of a day here: coffee on the verandah, a walk, a long table at lunch, and the same table again at dinner.
The Team
The staff at Tranquil have been with the resort a long time, and most come from villages around the estate. They work across dining, housekeeping, laundry and the gardens, and were trained here.
Spouses are employed across departments, households are housed on the property, and the resort undertakes the education of their children.
The Estate and Its Ownership
The Kuppamudi estate has been in coffee for over a century, opened by British planters and later held by Dutch owners before coming under its current ownership in 1994. Ajay and Nisha have run the resort side of it since.
The Resident Dogs
Resident dogs live on the estate and greet guests around the buildings, the verandahs, the pool deck and the dining areas. All are vaccinated.
They stay close to the main buildings and do not accompany guests on the plantation trails. Guests with allergies or concerns can speak to Ajay or the front-of-house team on arrival.

Tranquil Resort is not a pet-friendly property and does not accept guest pets.
