Activities at Tranquil Resort are ten mapped walking and trekking trails across the 400-acre plantation, birdwatching across over 130 recorded species, a swimming pool, Kerala Ayurvedic massage, a tree deck lounge and cooking classes on request.
Most of it happens on foot and none of it needs booking weeks ahead. The exceptions are the cooking class and the birding guide, which both need notice.
Ten Mapped Walking and Trekking Trails
Ten routes are mapped across the 400-acre estate, ranging from half an hour to two hours, each taking a different line through the coffee, pepper and spice zones.
They are named for their difficulty, so you know what you are choosing before you set off: The Teaser, The Coffee Walk, The Braveheart, The Indiana Jones. Some end at panoramic views over Wayanad. Some run along the rainforest edge, where the birdlife is densest.
The trails are self-paced and self-guided. Confirm your route at reception before setting out, and wear shoes with grip.
Over 130 Bird Species on the Estate
Over 130 bird species have been identified and recorded on the estate, including the Asian Paradise Flycatcher, the Racket-tailed Drongo, Malabar pied hornbills and laughing thrushes.
The intercropped canopy, coffee grown under native shade trees, creates the layered structure that forest-edge birds use. An English-speaking expert birding guide can be arranged with advance notice.
Kerala Cooking Classes with Nisha Mathulla
Cooking classes are led by host Nisha Mathulla and begin with a foraging walk through the estate to gather greens, vegetables or spices, followed by a kitchen session preparing the harvest using Kerala techniques. The dishes prepared in class are usually served at lunch.
Classes are available on request with advance notice, and are chargeable
The Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi
The swimming pool has a 3.5-foot shallow end and a 5.5-foot deep end, with a jacuzzi alongside, set among the gardens. There is no lifeguard on duty, so children should be supervised.
Ayurvedic Massage
Late afternoon, after a morning on the trails, is when most guests book it.
The Tree Deck Lounge
The Resident Dogs
Guests with allergies or concerns can speak to Ajay or the front-of-house team on arrival.
